Forward Deployed AI Accelerator— Build the AI Engine That Drives Our Growth
Contract • Remote • 3–6 Months (Contract-to-Hire Potential)

The Mission:
Every Student Deserves to Learn Their Way
At Subject, we believe the current education system is failing millions of students — not because teachers don’t care, but because the technology doesn’t exist to truly personalize learning at scale. We’re building the AI infrastructure that will finally make personalized education accessible to every student, regardless of their background, learning style, or circumstances.
We’re on a mission to deliver premium, video-based education to every learner. Backed by Owl Ventures, Kleiner Perkins, Latitude Ventures, and the CEOs of WHOOP, Cameo, and Aurora Solar, we create cinematic, short-form content paired with a robust learning platform that serves thousands of students every day.

The Opportunity:
Build the Systems That Scale Our MissionSubject’s GTM motion is strong — and we’re ready to pour fuel on it. This role is about building the AI-powered operational layer that makes our go-to-market unstoppable.
You’ll embed directly with our Marketing and Customer Success teams and engineer the systems that run our go-to-market: automated workflows, AI agents, content pipelines, and analytics infrastructure. This isn’t a role for someone who runs campaigns — it’s for someone who builds the agents that run them.
This is a 3–6 month contract engagement with strong potential to convert full-time as we prove the value of this function and define what it looks like long-term.

What You’ll Build
AI-Powered Marketing Systems (∼40%)
• Design and ship AI agents and workflows that automate content creation, campaign execution, and demand gen activities
• Build content multiplier pipelines — turn one high-quality input into multi-channel output at scale
• Instrument and optimize the full GTM funnel using automation tooling and LLMs
• Experiment fast: spin up, measure, and iterate on AI-driven marketing motions in days, not weeks
Customer Support & Success Ops (∼40%)
• Systemize customer support workflows — ticket routing, response generation, escalation logic, and closed-loop customer feedback
• Build dashboards and automated reporting that surface insights for the CS team in real time
• Identify bottlenecks in the support lifecycle and engineer solutions that remove manual toil
• Create early-warning systems that flag at-risk accounts before they churn
Analytics & Experimentation (∼20%)
• Own marketing analytics infrastructure — acquisition efficiency, campaign return, customer lifetime value, and conversion tracking
• Design rapid experiments and build the tooling to measure them accurately
• Translate data into clear, actionable signals for business stakeholders — no analyst middleman

Who You Are
• Business-focused engineer. You think in outcomes — customer satisfaction, campaign efficiency, revenue impact — as naturally as you think in code. You understand demand gen and content well enough to build for them without a translator.
• Proven growth impact. You have a track record of using engineering and AI/automation to move growth metrics at a fast-paced company.
• AI-native. You’re fluent in modern AI tooling (LLMs, agents, prompt pipelines) and can ship production-quality automations fast.
• Comfortable at both levels. You’re equally at home in the weeds of a workflow builder and in a strategic conversation about what to build next.
• Self-directed. You thrive with ambiguity — you scope your own work, prioritize ruthlessly, and deliver in a lean environment.
• Mission-aligned. You’re energized by the idea that the systems you build put great education in front of more students.

Technical Skills
Required
• Proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript
• Experience with AI/LLM frameworks (LangChain, OpenAI API, Anthropic API, or equivalent)
• Hands-on experience with workflow automation tools (Make, Zapier, n8n, or similar)
• Working knowledge of marketing analytics (attribution, funnel analysis, cohort analysis)
• Familiarity with CRM and marketing platforms (HubSpot, Intercom, or similar)
Nice to Have
• Experience with data warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift)
• Background building support automation or customer success tooling
• Familiarity with web scraping, SEO tooling, or content ops infrastructure
• Prior work in a growth or GTM engineering context

The Team
You’ll embed directly with:
• Marketing & Demand Gen — the team driving top-of-funnel growth and content strategy
• Customer Success — the team responsible for onboarding, retention, and keeping students and schools thriving
• Engineering — a tight-knit group of AI-first builders who move fast and care deeply about craft
You’ll report into Engineering and work as a dedicated partner to the Marketing and CS teams. The decisions you make will be felt immediately by the people around you — and by the students they serve.

What Success Looks Like
In 30 Days
• Deeply understand the current GTM and CS workflows — where the manual work is, where automation is possible
• Shipped your first working automation or agent that saves real time for the team
• Built trust with Marketing and CS as a technical partner, not just a vendor

In 3 Months
• Delivered 2+ AI-powered systems actively used in production by the GTM or CS team
• Established baseline analytics for acquisition cost, campaign return, and customer satisfaction that didn’t exist before
• Demonstrated measurable output multiplier: the team does more with the same headcount

In 6 Months
• Owned an AI-powered operational layer that spans content, campaigns, and customer support
• Demonstrably improved the metrics that matter: customers are happier, acquisition is more efficient, and marketing dollars go further
• Built the foundation for what this function looks like as a permanent part of the company
The Commitment We’re Looking ForThis role requires exceptional focus — not because we demand it, but because the mission deserves it. We’re looking for someone who:
• Lives the mission. Sees improving education as meaningful work, not just another contract.
• Thrives in ambiguity. Energized by the early-stage nature of this function — you’re building the playbook, not following one.
• Ships with pride. Takes ownership of systems from conception through production and genuinely cares about the outcome.
• Multiplies the team. Makes the marketers and CS reps around you significantly more effective through the tools you build.
